This is a tumblelog, kinda like a blog but with short-form, mixed-media posts with stuff I like. Scroll down a bit to start reading, or a bit more to read more about me.
Alex: To be honest when I first met him he was dead like, not cheeky but just really confident, do you know what I mean? Just like… he didn’t shut up. He came to my mum’s house when I was baby-sitting and he just told me he was coming and I was like ‘woah, what’s going on now?’ Because I thought I haven’t even met him before and the last thing you want when you first meet someone is to be stuck in a house baby-sitting
Stevie: It was harassment, I think
What’s it like playing alongside Jamie Carragher and Sami Hyypia?
When I came to this club I knew there were two world class defenders. First of all I said I wanted to fight for my place, but then I also said I could learn lots from them. If you learn from the best you can be the best. They have been here for many years and have lots of experience, so I can still learn a lot from them. Every training session and every game I try to listen to them and do what they tell me to do. I know I play in my own way and that’s why Liverpool bought me, but I try to pick up pieces from their games and mix it all together. (14 december 2006)
“Sami has been the perfect example and also a fantastic Liverpool player. Because of that, all the players here have a great affection for him. His attitude and honesty have always stood out.”
_ Xabi Alonso
“Sami is simply one of Liverpool’s greats. He is the best central defensive partner I have ever played alongside and he is one of the greatest signings the club has ever made. When you think of the performances he produced so consistently and the longevity of his career, for that price tag, it was phenomenal business.”
_ Jamie Carragher
“Sami has been an absolutely magnificent servant to this football club. He came in and showed his worth immediately. He was made captain of the club and even when the decision was taken to make a change and give the armband to Steven Gerrard, the dignity he showed was brilliant and reflected tremendously well on him as a person. To spend 10 years at the same club is a remarkable achievement, and even more so when that club is Liverpool and the demands to succeed year after year are exceptionally high. But Sami’s performance levels have always been very, very high. When he first arrived people commented that he wasn’t quick - but over the years he hasn’t lost any of that pace because he didn’t have too much to start with! He reads the game so well and has made a massive contribution - at both ends of the pitch - to Liverpool Football Club.” - King Kenny
